The Badlands National Park

So sorry for the delay in posts lately; we have been driving our way into and out of South Dakota, which means we haven't encountered much of anything for quite a while!! Yep, just hundreds and hundreds of miles of absolutely nothing. Taylor and I kept commenting to one another on what life must be like living out in the middle-of-nowhere, South Dakota and how in the world people do their grocery shopping!! We thought we had it bad in Mt. Bethel! Sheesh!
Anyway, that is what made coming into The Badlands all that much more amazing! All of a sudden, as if completely out of nowhere, gorgeous peaks of dusty stone shoot to the sky and you truly feel as if you are on a different planet! We couldn't stop taking pictures (partially out of mere excitement of having something to finally take pictures of!)

Taylor and I stopped at a visitors center when we arrived to the park and met another young couple, Mike and Jessica, who are also on a 2 month road trip! We hit it off and ended up spending the next couple of days together exploring the park. Looks like we've got ourselves some travel buddies!
Highlights from the Badlands included LOTS of Bison (we were a little stuck on the road for a while actually...turns out Bison do not move until THEY want to move!), Prairie Dogs, Howling Coyotes, and some teeth that we found in stones. Perhaps from the last hikers in the area...??? Guess we'll never know!
